I need a favor.... Im looking for the greatest chocolate chip cookie receipe. Anyone have one? Dont get me wrong, the receipe on the back of the Toll House chocolate chip package is always a good one, but there's got to be others out there, right? If you have one, let me know and I will bake it up and share it with the world!!

Hailey,
ReplyDeleteI usually make the Toll House recipe (with whole wheat flour) and usually comes out really well. But here's the Neiman-Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe...I made them a few years ago with my mom. My dad loved them! I haven't made them since because they are a little more work than usual - you have to blend the oatmeal and grate a chocolate bar.
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
4 ounces milk chocolate, grated
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Measure oats into a blender or food processor, and then blend to a fine powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oats, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir dry ingredients into creamed butter and sugar. Add chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes in the preheated oven.
Good luck!
Allie

Hi Hailey - I really like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies cause I can convince myself that the oatmeal cancels out the butter and sugar! I recently discovered that toasting the oatmeal in the oven gives the cookies a whole new flavor that I really like. Also, if you're gonna use nuts, they can be toasted too. Once I had some sugared pecans that needed to be used, so I threw them into the cookie dough. They might have been the best cookies I ever made. The recipe I use is an adaptation of the Quaker Oats oatmeal rasin cookie recipe thats always on their box:
ReplyDeletePreheat oven to 350 and spread the oatmeal in a thin layer on a cookie sheet. Toast around 8 minutes - watch it - this is approximate. You want the oats to be just turning a toasty color. Toast the nuts about 8 or 10 minutes. Let that cool a bit.
Cookie ingred:
1/2 lb butter (2 sticks)
1 c brown sugar - I like dark brown, packed
1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp (I always use 2 tsp)
1 1/2 c flour
1 t soda
1/2 t salt (optional)
3 cups oats
1 cup nuts (optional)
2 cups choc chips
You know how to mix up cookie dough, so I'll skip all that pesky typing - place dough on cookie sheet and bake 10-12 min at 350. cool 1 min on the pan and remove to wire rack to finish cooling. Enjoy!
Love ya,
